Evins Mill Resort and Retreat, Smithville, TN
Evins Mill Retreat Center is our favorite go to place for special occasions like birthdays and simply a place to get away from the bustle of the city.
In our experience two nights makes a huge difference to feel like you have given yourself time to reflect on life and be thankful for the road behind and the road ahead 🙂

My wife and I discovered Evins Mill about 8 years ago. I asked her to marry me over dinner at the Lodge and we have returned over and over again due to the warm hospitality, the casual pace, the peace and quiet, and the serenity of the Retreat Center.

Depending on where you are coming from if you live in greater Nashville the drive will take about an hour to an hour and a half to get there. It’s close to Center Hill Lake and located in Smithville. If you are lucky enough to book one of the rooms by the Mill and the creek you can fall asleep to the sound of the water flowing over the spillway.

The inside of the Mill has been converted into a billiard’s room with a pool table, a ping pong table, and a dart board. My wife and I have a standing competition to see who will be the weekend champion.
Every Meal we’ve ever eaten at the Lodge has been delicious. The room rate usually includes a gourmet dinner, a sumptuous breakfast, and a packaged lunch to take hiking or for the road home.
Years ago, we got engaged over dinner at the main lodge and the staff were nice enough to surprise my bride with the engagement ring when they brought out dessert. When she said yes, all the guests of the lodge and restaurant who were present broke out into loud applause.
A great memory sure to never be forgotten by either of us 🙂
This past weekend we stayed two nights in the Solstice Lodge to celebrate another birthday. Here are a couple of pictures from our trip.

And here’s a shot from the balcony of our room. We love this lodge because as you can see from their site it has lots of these balconies on the back of the lodge that open to the woods.

Returning back down the hill to the Mill you’ll find the South Trail. It leads to the Carmac Falls and Overlooks. A short 30 minute hike to the Falls is worth every step. Here are a couple of shots of the trail and the waterfalls.

So, if you are looking for a relaxing get away from Nashville, Cookville, or Knoxville consider a stay at Evins Mill. Pretty sure you’ll be happy you did.
We’ll go back again and again.
